Blue wrens are small, fascinating songbirds that live in extended family groups in south east Australia. They are frequently seen fossicking along the ground and under small bushes in parks and gardens. The dazzling blue and black plumage of the breeding male attracts female blue wrens. However, its bright colours also put it at the mercy of predators. While incubating, the female wren sings to its unhatched eggs communicating a personal code that the newly born chicks will need to emulate in order to be fed.
