about Michelle
Michelle's art takes inspiration from her family lands and sacred landmarks. She was taught by her father, Clifford, who is the most renowned painter of the founding group of Papunya artists. Her designs are intricate, interwoven, and all contain meaningful narratives of The Dreamings.

WORKING WITH KOH LIVING - IN MICHELLE’S WORDS
Being a part of Koh living is extremely giving.
As it’s been something that I've always wanted to do and work with, sharing my art work that's being displayed on multiple products just brings that brightness of joy to my eyes!
And my mother and I are simply happy how we’ve been welcomed to this journey and getting to know Tui and Nyree along the way where we’ve had plenty of catch ups with Tui and her family over dinner and we now share a friendship bond. Tui and Nyree are absolutely amazing people and have looked after myself and my mother through this all and we’re both happy how everything has turned out. Tui always seems to surprise us more and more with these remarkable ideas that we absolutely love so much.
Tui, thank you for choosing myself and my Mother to be a part of this wonderful collaboration. We are totally grateful and couldn’t be any more happier. You are tremendously amazing and you should be very proud of yourself as we are. Thanks again, Tui.

Michelle's Artworks and Stories
We are delighted to work with three Michelle artworks, which we have carefully created into a variety of products which we feel best showcase each artwork and complement the stories. The finished products are always shared with our artists before they are released, and it is typically our favourite days of the year to see how these gorgeous designs can be really brought to life on our gifts.
Grandmother's Country

Shop the design
In this artwork, Michelle describes the many important cultural sites she knows well. Her paintings have gained wide popularity partly due to the fact that as we come to understand the iconography, the paintings make fascinating narratives for a western audience. They are populated not only with plants and food resources and waterholes, but also with people sitting in the landscape – men with hunting implements and women with digging sticks and coolamons.
In addition to sacred landmarks and iconography, MIchelle’s artwork includes important bush tucker and waterholes, making a meaningful connection to modern kitchens, the source of such provisions.

The Dreamings that Michelle Possum paints come from Yuelamu on her home country at Mt Allan. These include the stories of Seven Sisters Dreaming, Bush Tucker stories including Seed Dreaming, Bush Coconut, Fire Dreaming, Goanna Dreaming, and Grandmother’s Country, many of which she combines together in complex interwoven designs.
