The Gift
Time is one of the most precious gifts we can give. When we give someone our time, we are giving them moments of our lives that we never get back. You’re gifting them a valuable and limited resource. Coming together, making memories, making traditions, laughing with loved ones and reflecting.
Reflecting on the year that was and thinking about the growth that we will strive for in our future.
Our time is a very powerful gift. One of the best gifts of all.
Winds of the World
Winds of the World is a vibrant, dynamic exploration of the far-reaching impact of joy and human connection. Through an explosion of colour, this piece symbolises the way happiness and positivity ripple outwards, much like the wind, touching lives in ways both seen and unseen. The swirling patterns and bold hues reflect the diverse ways in which our energy and emotions affect others—each gust of colour signifies a different response, a different experience. Whether subtle or intense, the joy we share leaves an indelible mark, spreading across time and space, transcending boundaries and generations. Winds of the World reminds us that our actions, our kindness, and our joy reverberate long after we are gone, shaping the world in ways we may never fully understand but always feel. It is a celebration of the enduring power of human connection and the legacy we create through the energy we put into the world.
Hooked
Hooked is a powerful tribute to the deep connection between the Worimi people and the waters of Port Stephens, where fishing has long been a vital part of our culture. The tranquil blues mirror the depths of the sea and the delicate yet strong forms of traditional fishhooks (birrwuy) crafted from oyster and turban shells, are depicted with reverence, symbolising not just a tool, but a lifeline to both sustenance and tradition. The flowing hues of blue and soft textures suggest the fluidity of water, and the timeless relationship between the land, sea and our people. Hooked captures the spirit of resilience, connection, and respect that the Worimi people have for the natural world, honouring their cultural heritage while evoking the enduring importance of the ocean as a source of life and identity.
Each of Us
Each of us invites us to reflect on our own journey and the journey of those we love around us. This colourful piece is a reminder that every person in our lives plays an essential role in the larger tapestry of life, with moments of reconnection reminding us of the enduring strength of human connection.
We may walk different roads but together our lives intersect in meaningful ways and they shape our identities and destinies.
Each of us are walking together even when we are miles apart.
Still Burning
Still Burning is a powerful visual statement honouring the NAIDOC 2024 theme, Keep the Fire Burning.
It celebrates the resilience and enduring strength of Indigenous culture. As an Aboriginal artist, I’ve woven a narrative of continuity, using fire as a symbol of life, knowledge, and tradition—elements that are passed down through generations. With pulses of warm, vibrant hues—oranges and yellows—representing the constant flame that fuels our stories, customs, and connections to the land. The swirling patterns and bold marks evoke the movement of fire, as well as the energy of ancestors, whose presence still guide and inspire us today. Still Burning is a call to action and reflection, reminding us that the fire of culture, language, and community must always be kept alive, no matter the challenges. It is a visual representation of strength, survival, and the enduring spirit of Aboriginal people, rooted in the timeless flames of our heritage.
Island Heart
Island Heart is a vibrant celebration of life’s fleeting beauty and the importance of embracing adventure. The artwork has bursts of pinks, corals, and oranges, representing the glow of a sun-drenched horizon and the intoxicating allure of distant shores. Through this beautiful bright colour palette, the piece invites us to pause and reflect on the preciousness of time. It serves as a call to live fully, to step outside the ordinary, and to seek joy in the spontaneous and the unknown. Whether it's embarking on a last-minute trip or taking a moment to bask in the present, Island Heart reminds us that life is short—so we must make it unforgettable, exploring both the world and our hearts without hesitation.
