Description
This artwork is inspired by the spirit of kinship. Melanie Hava was raised in the outback where she would often see emus travelling through the long grasses. Occasionally, she would observe two males joining forces to protect their chicks. This banding together in kinship to feed and protect their mob echoes the way aboriginals once lived.

This delicate Minikin™ Lantern is moulded with fine white porcelain, which sits on a round wooden base. When lit with tea light candle the warmth of the flame glows through the porcelain and its true beauty comes to life.

Commissions are paid to the artist for each item sold.

Back for another one

My mother in Ireland asked me to buy her another one of these. She loves it and wanted a matching set after her sister sent her one. It really is a beautiful candle holder.

Artist Bio

Melanie Hava

Melanie Hava has always known she would be an artist, and started out selling her work at markets as a teenager. As a Mamu Aboriginal woman from Dugul-barra and Wari-barra family groups in the Wet Tropics of Far-North Queensland, reef and rainforest have always been prevalent in her work. Austrian patterns and use of gold leaf became later inspirations after travelling to meet her paternal family in Austria.

Cement kinship with the perfect gift

The blend of Aboriginal and Austrian influence produces unparalleled art that in turn creates a perfectly unique gift. Her collection at Koh Living is inspired by the spirit of Kinship. In the outback, she would often see emus travelling through long grasses, and occasionally, two males would join forces to protect their chicks. This banding together in kinship to feed and protect their mob echoes her own Aboriginal culture and is reflected in her work.
