    ARTIST & ARTWORK

    Domica Hill

Pakana woman Domica Hill is a contemporary Aboriginal artist infusing traditional elements with modern colour palettes and patterns. She has a passion for native flora and Fauna inspired by the loss of her daughter Briar Primrose as well as bringing connection to her ancestors.

Her creations often captivate a blend of contemporary and vibrant work while still paying homage to tradition with symbolism. Each artwork serves as a testament to the enduring spirit of her people and their inseparable connection to the land they inhabit.

    Our Spirit Being

This piece represents our spirit being in the form of a Galah. Birds are very important to Aboriginal people and are often seen as totemic ancestors and spirit beings. The painting shows a Galah perched up on the branch of a flowering gum. There is a path/track running through the middle of the piece with many meeting places and rest stops. This represents your journey with the spirit being looking out for you along the way.

    Kookaburra Dreaming

This piece shows a Kookaburra sitting in a Gum Tree
looking out over all the meeting spots on country. He looks over the ceremonies and healing that takes place here and watches as the community come together in celebration.

    Luina - The Blue Wren

This piece represents the Tasmanian Aboriginal story of Dromerdeene who, while seeking reconciliation with his brother Moihernee, is attacked by Moihernee's beasts. A tiny grey bird
valiantly tries to protect Dromerdeene but is thrown against a tree. A bright star rescues Dromerdeene and, in a display of gratitude, bestows upon the grey bird unique attributes including bright black eyes, a fan of feathers, and a beautiful blue crown that symbolises courage and freedom.

    King Parrot

This piece showcases the striking king parrot, its brilliant red and green feathers radiant against a backdrop of lush gum leaves. Surrounding the bird are intricate patterns and Aboriginal symbols for meeting places and tracks, weaving a story of connection to the land. Every path holds a memory. The king parrot, often seen in the treetops, symbolises strength and beauty in the Aboriginal culture. It is not just a bird but a messenger of the spirit, representing the stories and paths of ancestors. A reminder of our connection to the land and to each other.
