ARTIST & ARTWORK

Domica Hill

Pakana woman Domica Hill is a contemporary Aboriginal artist infusing traditional elements with modern colour palettes and patterns. She has a passion for native flora and Fauna inspired by the loss of her daughter Briar Primrose as well as bringing connection to her ancestors.

Her creations often captivate a blend of contemporary and vibrant work while still paying homage to tradition with symbolism. Each artwork serves as a testament to the enduring spirit of her people and their inseparable connection to the land they inhabit.

On the Land

This artwork celebrates family, connection, and the abundance of Country. The sun shines warmly over seven interconnected circles, each one representing a family member, their bond unbroken and strong. Together, they form a whole—united through love, culture, and shared journey. Painted in soft peach, vibrant green, and golden tones, the piece radiates harmony and life. At the base, green hills rise gently from the land, with animal tracks weaving upwards, telling stories of movement, survival, and the interconnection of all living things. These tracks lead to a flourishing area rich with native flowers and resources, symbolising the gifts of the land when it is respected and nurtured. ‘On the Land’ is a reminder of the strength found in family, the wisdom of the natural world, and the importance of walking gently and gratefully across Country.
